Jennifer Cheuk 卓嘉敏 is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Rat World Magazine, an independent print magazine and collective all about showcasing underground and underrepresented voices from all over the world. Rat World targets emerging, minority, and experimental creatives who may not have a space in traditional publishing platforms. Rat World also prioritizes outreach events, workshops, and mentorship to engage with the community. [1][2]

Jennifer is highly involved in the theatre community as a reviewer. She has been reviewing for over five years, with a speciality in Asian and BIPOC theatre, and now manages her own reviewing platform. She is also the host of a performing arts podcast in conjunction with Basement Theatre. Jennifer is an emerging scriptwriter and on the 6th of April 2023 she staged reading of her script, Notes Underground, as part of Proudly Asian Theatre's development program, Fresh Off The Page. Jennifer has an academic background in Linguistics and English Literature, and has recently completed a First Class Master of Creative Writing (Scriptwriting).[1] In 2017, she self-published a collection of short stories and poems entitled, The Peculiar Thoughts of a Hummingbird.[4][5]

She was Guest Curator of the 2023 New Zealand Young Writers Festival, and moderated the panel, Bridging the Ditch: Connecting Trans-Tasman Comics Communities, featuring Neal Curtis, Allan Xia, Joshua Santaspirito, and Eleri Harris on the 24th of September 2023.[6][7] As of the 30th of November 2023, Jennifer is the programme manager of the Auckland Writers Festival.[8][9]
