Maya K Templer (Known professionally as MK Templer) is an Ōtautahi based Designer and Animator. She is the lead organiser of Ōtautahi Zinefest;[1] the lead illustrator for environmental podcast, The Seed Pod;[2] and a designer for the children's television show, What Now.[2]
In 2023, with the intention of helping young people learn about the New Zealand 2023 General Election, she made the political card game, Meet the Candidates, assisted by a grant from the Blackbird Foundation’s ProtoStars fund.[3][4] The game featured 45 different political figures and a total of 85 individually illustrated cards. The game was featured by The Spin Off, Radio New Zealand, TVNZ2 and the Student Radio Network.[1][2]
